Hey pretty girl! I am Lex Kanode and I am so glad you are here! This blog is a safe space where you are prayed for, encouraged, and (hopefully!) inspired to tap into your God-given purposes and be the amazing woman God has created you to be!

We are in the middle of an incredibly hot summer right now here in Pennsylvania. Things are hot, humid, and incredibly DRY.

I don’t know much about the grass or crops, all I really know is when the grass turns brown, that’s bad. My husband on the other hand, grew up on a farm and spent six years as a professional lawncare and landscaper, so he knows a lot. Needless to say, I leave the outside work to him. Because it has been so dry, Tim has been letting the lawn grow in an effort to preserve it until we get the rain we so desperately need.

Today, as I sat praising our gracious God in worship I looked outside and saw a grey cloud rolling in. I looked down at my belly and told our little guy in my womb that we were heading outside to watch the rain roll in (hopefully).

Thankfully, the rain started not even 5 minutes later. As I stood outside on the porch and watched it rain nearly an inch I looked at the plants, the trees, the grass, the field behind the wood line behind our house and the words “He provides” hit me like a ton of bricks.

Sometimes life is crazy and we wonder if God is there, if He is really going to provide for all of our needs. Is He really going to be there right when we need Him? The answer – yes, friend. He surely is always there and will always be there to graciously provide for His children as Jehovah Jireh.

I thought more about how bad all of the things of the ground needed that rain and the following verse came to mind:

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

Matthew 6:26

Woah. How true is that, friend? God provides for the birds in the sky, the crop of the land, the grass of the earth. How much more is He going to provide for His precious children whom He loves and created in His own image?

My prayer for you and for me is the next time we wonder if God is really going to provide, we stop and think about this verse and that rain storm and remember that surely if God provides for the land and the animals, He will always provide exactly what His children need and just at the right timing.

Praise the Lord for how good He is to us.
